This was a very emotional event for me. It taught me, and more importantly, it reminded me of valuable lessons in life and business.
I wish I could share all that I took away from this event here with you, but I assume you have better things to do than read 50 pages. So I will let my heart lead the way and share SCATTERED insights, on 4 key elements, I took away that I believe are relevant to everyone.
There were people that went above and beyond to help me with my vision of this event. I wish I could say this event was an easy one for me to do. In fact it was far from easy. At times I really questioned my decision to pull the trigger on this event.
It was during those times that the right people showed up miraculously, like angels, to help me take just one more step forward towards the end.
We truly do not know what we value in life until our values are tested, and we have to fight for what we say we value.
This is especially true in our friendships and people we surround ourselves with. We often do not realize who matters most in our lives until we are faced with challenges. That is when the ‘right’ people in your life reveal themselves.
What a precious gift I have been given: The gift of clarity regarding those around me.
Are you surrounded by people who make
decisions
from their ego or from their heart?
There is only so much time, energy, and heart we have. We need to make sure we invest those elements into the people that matter to us in our lives. Every minute you invest with the “wrong” person – you take away from those that you love and love you.
At times we get lost in this fast paced world, and with this loss of focus we lose the greatest gift we have right in front of us: The people that truly matter to us; everyone from our employees to our children and precious friends.
You cannot grow a business effectively without the following two critical elements:
Dr. Wayne Young shared with us on stage how he doubled his productivity in his employees in 6 months by focusing on these two elements.
Make a list of everything that you do in your business. Then ask yourself, why do you do it? You will find that most activities are done by habit, yet have no purpose to your business but to make you feel like you are busy.
One of the biggest time wasters we have is always trying to impress others. In doing so, we know others more then we truly know ourselves.
I dare you to spend one hour
getting to know your true self.
The importance of that is you cannot measure something you do not know with clarity.
Just remember the words of Socrates: An unexamined life is not worth living.
We keep chasing masters, gurus, teachers. What we do not see is that we are the real teacher, master and guru for our own lives.
Make today your new beginning, a new relationship with yourself. It all starts with you first.
I better start condensing my thoughts. There is so much that I want to share from this event.
The following words always resonate in my head and heart. They visit me every time I start losing my path or focus.
Where have you been?
Why are you here?
Where are you going?
I often look at my life and ask:
Am I living my dreams?
Am I chasing what matters to me?
Am I procrastinating?
Am I turning my back on myself?
Am I fighting for love?
Am I pushing my limits?
Am I experimenting with life?
Is my life an adventure or am I just existing?
Separate what you do from who you are. Connect who you are with how you do things in life. (Read this sentence again – it will change how you live your life.)
The heart of a champion is always on. A leader does not go on and off based on the situation and who is watching.
As far as I am concerned, a true leader knows who they are, not what they do. Anyone can figure out what they want to do and what they want to achieve. Very few have the courage to ask themselves the question:
Who do I want to be in this life?
Most people define themselves by what they do. Instead, define yourself by how you do what ever you do in life.
Vision is one of the critical elements in a successful business. To me the real question is:
How do we get others to follow our vision?
My dialogue with Chief Joe Dion gave great insight into this.
We need all four elements in order to get the masses to follow our vision:
Let this be that moment you start to re-invent yourself and your business. Let today be the day you start to test your will, your determination, your passion for life and those around you.
Let today be the day you start forming who you are in life.
Once again, thank you to everyone that simply cared enough to help and be part of this event.
To all the incredible partners, I wish I had the words to share how grateful I am for blindly trusting me in my vision for this event.
