I am sitting here in Central America about to head into a location where I will not have access to technology. Made me think about how technology has impacted our lives. Yes, it is true, that technology helps us be effective and efficient in our lives. But we also have to stay aware of how our pursuit towards our definition of success takes away our focus towards what mattes most in our lives - the joy and love that is already in front of us.
Technology has made us so effective at being connected in our lives, that we have become so disconnected with what truly matters in our lives.
My sisters birthday is right around the corner and I will not be able to 'connect' with her due to lack of technology access. So I decided to sit here today and write her an actual letter. Yes, with a pen and paper. Let me tell you, it was not easy. My hand was cramping, it took a lot longer to write then to type, there was no spell check or delete a sentence and type again. That is what made it raw and allowed me to be real with what I have always wanted to tell my sister.
Take the time to truly connect with the ones you love in your life. Get off that text and email, and write them a note, call them, go see them, hug them, hold them, spend time with them, listen to them. This kind of connection is what life is all about.
I mailed the letter to her straight from the hotel and I was nervous for some reason.
Why am I sharing this personal letter with you? I hope to hear from you about what you did to connect to your loved ones after reading it. PLEASE SHARE, as that has so much power in helping all of us stay connected with our priorities.
